A bizarre landscape burns on an alien planet surface. The hot oranges, red, and yellows bleed across a recycled leaf from James Joyce's Dubliners. The original painting was done with oil pastels on the recycled paper sheet.
The art print reproduction version captures all of the original's details perfectly--and in fact looks better, crisper, and bolder than the original painting. :-)

Hand Painted by Ren Adams (that's me!)
Professionally matted using archival materials. Includes mat, foam core, and acid-free bag.
A pair of Cephea sp. (of the order Rhizostomeae) Jellyfish float in the Red Sea. Cepheas have a fascinating purple flush with almost luminescent white qualities and they are often the size of large punch bowls, floating dreamily through the water in search of prey.
The Cephea sp. are commonly called Crown Jellyfish.
I love painting jellyfish. It's a challenge to make them seem lightweight and semi-transparent, with just the right touch of fluidity.
This pair of jellyfish almost seem to be friends. Gliding through the open spaces of water in harmony.
About Chinese Brush Painting
-----------------------
The art of brush painting requires patience and serenity. Each stroke counts only once--and you can't go back and do a stroke over again. Therefore, it can take many failed tries before you get a painting to turn out the way you envision it.
I used traditional Chinese paints and pigments to paint this.
Chinese brush painting has existed in China for thousands of years and has been a method of history-keeping, Taoist meditation and thought, and aesthetic practice. I value its long tradition and rigid/loose form; almost contradictory in nature.
Painting is signed with my artist name chop (An Rui Ning; the square stamp) and my mood chop "Everything in the Universe is One Essence." Crazy Pumpkin Original Art ACEO Card Title: Pumpkin Slash

Work Promotion Blessing Painting Traditional Chinese Lucky Symbols Title: Continuous Promotion
Original Chinese brush painting and pen & ink by Ren Adams (that's me!)
In China, there are symbolic blessings that are used and given, to increase one's luck. These symbols are powerful and not to be used for ill will.
The Continuous Promotion image is used by and for people wishing to have frequent promotions, raises, or upward mobility at their place of work. The painting contains the Three Yuan (three round fruits / nuts), which symbolize continuous promotion, prosperity, and benefit.
This mixed media piece of art work was done on special white Japanese board (rice paper covered on the front and back, with gold edges. The back paper has gold flecks in it and explains the meaning of the symbols). I used Chinese brush painting techniques and pen & ink to do the imagery on the front.
The Chinese characters mean:

Size: 8" x 12 3/4"
Original Chinese brush painting by Ren Adams (that's me!)
This painting was done with traditional Chinese brush techniques, on white Japanese Hosho rice paper. I used hand-ground ink and Chinese watercolors to capture the essence of Quan Yin (Kuan Yin / Guan Yin), Goddess of Compassion, Empathy, and Kindness. She is venerated by certain sects of Buddhists and by Taoists as an immortal.
Guan Yin watches over all of the people in the world and tries to help everyone in need. It is said that she reached enlightenment when she was still a mortal and rather than quickly ascend to immortality, she stayed behind and walked the Earth, helping everyone she found in need.
Sometimes she is depicted with a "thousand arms" because there are so many people in need of help, that having multiple arms allows her to help more people, more often.
She is a fascinating and engaging being, full of love, serenity, compassion, and earthiness. It is also said that any painting or depiction of the Goddess contains part of her essence.
I drew this version of Guan Yin from the air--I sat for a while and thought about her and the way she looks. This is the way she appeared on my paper. Slightly smiling, because how can we continue on unless we are able to laugh and enjoy life--even amidst awful things?
This is an original paintings. I signed it with my name chop (An Rui Ning). The oval chop reads, "Arriving at the Tao is not Difficult." Mountain Seaside Boat ACEO Card Title: Sunset Wash

Medium: Traditional Chinese brush painting.
Size: 13" x 26"
A young, Tang Dynasty nobleman wanders through a wintry forest, as the full moon rises overhead. Perhaps he's trying to find his way back to the palace, or maybe he's wandered off on purpose--to contemplate the vastness of space, in the chilly evening air.
Chinese brush painting is part of my daily meditation. Each stroke can only be laid down once, so it's a very immediate, here-and-now art form. You can't go back and forth to correct a mistake.

What is an "ACEO"?
-------------------
ACEO stands for "Art / Artist card editions and originals," a special type of collectible art trading card.
Artists create small format originals, which makes collecting a wide range of work totally possible and affordable. Many people collect them in trading card albums, display them in mini frames, or show them off on a shelf. Kuan Yin Mini Print Size: 3 1/2" x 5 3/4"
Kuan Yin (Quan Yin, Guan Yin, Kwan Yin), the Chinese goddess of compassion makes a nice, calming mini art scroll.
She is a fine art reproduction of a larger Chinese brush painting I did. This nice quality, textured art reproduction print makes a great gift for those seeking serenity, enlightenment, and understanding.
The original painting was carefully photographed to maintain all of its color variations and personality. The reproduction is then printed with an 8-color dye-based professional photo printer on Canson Mi-Teintes fine art paper.
The result is a bold, crisp, colorful art print on beautiful textured paper.
It's an easy and charming way to add a little bit of art to any part of your life. Frame it, use it as a bookmark, tack it on your inspiration wall, give it as a gift--whatever makes you happy!
Art print is also hand-signed. I Remember Oahu ACEO Original Art Title: I Remember Oahu

This piece is done with traditional Chinese brush painting techniques, a unique, and ancient form of single-stroke painting which requires a calm mind and brush strokes that are precise, yet fluid.

What's an "ACEO" Card?
----------------------
ACEO stands for "Artist Card Editions & Originals." They are the "for sale" version of Artist Trading Cards.
ACEO (and ATC) cards are nifty little works of art, the size of a standard baseball card. Artists make them in all mediums (everything from paint, pencil, and cloth, to metal, clay, and anything else you can imagine!
ACEO cards are fun to collect and trade. Avid collectors store them in large coffee table books (using plastic baseball card sleeve pages!), but they can be stored or displayed any way you like. Waiting for the Cherries Original Sumi ACEO Title: Waiting for the Cherries

Size: 12 1/2" x 10"
This is an original painting done by me (Ren Adams), using traditional Chinese brush painting techniques. The process of Chinese brush painting is part of my daily meditation. It allows me to focus and to spread positive energy into the universe.
Wolong (the Sleeping Dragon) speaks words from the Tao Teh Ching. The three greatest treasures someone can own are: compassion, simplicity and patience. He reminds us to stay calm, open-minded, and uncomplicated in our daily life.
Painting has been dry mounted using archival materials. The backing board is a crisp white Ampersand mat board. The edges of the painted paper have been left rough and uneven for a rustic, natural effect.
This painting is also signed with my artist's name chop (An Rui Ning) and two mood chops (the oval stamp below the square stamp, which reads: Arriving at the Tao is not Difficult and the oval stamp in the upper left corner "Purge one's mind of desires and ambitions").
